Back in December, Natalie's dad approached us and asked if we would like to climb Mount Kilimanjaro with him. For those of you that know me, if I am ever offered an opportunity for international travel and/or adventure...the answer is always yes.
So we decided that Natalie and I would both go, but there was one complication. We had already planned on another round of IVF in February, so as I often do, I double booked.
If Natalie was pregnant, we would throw a party and Natalie would miss the trip to Africa. Is she wasn't pregnant, we would have ourselves a good cry and then enjoy the trip of our lifetime together to help us get over it. For this to work out though, we would have to buy her tickets last minute. It might cost a little bit more money, but it would give us more flexibility.
We never really considered though that Natalie would maybe be pregnant. So instead of buying her tickets to Africa last Thursday, we are stuck waiting until Monday to find out if Natalie had a miscarriage, has a viable pregnancy or worst case scenario has an ectopic pregnancy that would require her to miss the trip and stick around civilization for at least a month of treatment.
The plane for Africa leaves Saturday the 17th and the big climb up to the highest peak in Africa starts in Tanzania on the 19th of March (my 33rd birthday, for those that like plenty of time to find the perfect present).
I'm hoping Natalie can join us!
