3's the New Teenager

How do I know that 3 is the new teenager? Because Taylor just said, "Mom, I'm not afraid of you." It's going to be a long 15 years before he is an adult.

But seriously, he turned 3 today. He's not very excited about it. In fact, right now I can hear Adrian explaining why 3 is actually better than 2. "2 is practically a baby. Now you are a big boy. 3 is actually older than 2...." Things like that.

We celebrated in true pirate fashion. Grandma Dayton even constructed this cool pirate boat to play on.

The cake. In case you can't tell, it's a treasure box cake. Adrian let me know that it turned out much better than the one I did last year. I think it was comparable in presentation.
And for good measure, one more picture.
I thought Adrian had convinced Taylor of the greatness of age three in the time this post was written. But when I just asked him what he thinks about being three he said "not good."

i love the cake! looks like such a fun birthday. and i find it hilarious that taylor has such strong feelings about being 3. to be honest i don't think i ever gave it much thought.
