The end of summer

There is a sudden chill in the air. Almost like flipping a switch we went from a hot summer in Buffalo to a much cooler fall. It has been an awesome summer though.

We got the whole Dayton Family together for a great reunion in Buffalo in the end of July.

Damian's friend Rachel Thurston is a professional documentary photographer and she shot pictures of us for a few days.

This is one of my favorites (for those of you that don't know, this is the famous Dayton Handshake):

This is me and my boy at Spaulding Lake
This is the whole family at Niagara Falls. It appears none of us were ready for the picture.

You can see a bunch more of the pictures on Rachel's blog post

I also traveled to Rome two weeks ago to present a paper on Social Media at the Strategic Managements Society Conference.

This is my friend Francisco who is an Opus Dei Priest and teaches at a local university. We are standing in front of St. Peter's. Directly behind us is the apartment where the Pope lives. He gave us a fascinating tour of the buildings.

This is my co-presenter and friend Ron Rivas who is a Professor of International Business at Canisius College. He is standing inside the Pantheon. This miracle of architecture was built almost 2,000 years ago by the Romans and not only has it stood the test of time- it is still very beautiful.
This is the Colosseum where I hear gladiators fought gladiators, lions fought gladiator and Russell Crowe filmed the move "Gladiator"
Here I am standing in front of St. Peter's. It doesn't look that big, but when you get inside it is enormous. This is a must-see in Rome. Inside is not only an amazing building, but it also houses Michaelangelo's Pieta' Ta (I'm sure that isn't how it is spelled) as well as what archeologists believe to be the final resting place of Peter the Apostle.

It was a great trip and a perfect way to end a crazy summer.
