What's That Noise?

Several times a day Taylor comes to a dead stop, nervously grabs my arm, and asks "What's that noise?" It is usually the fridge, a car outside, Adrian talking on the phone, or any other mundane noise that becomes a part of life and is usually unnoticeable. I casually tell him what it is, and then he responds, "no, I think it's a monster." And he truly does.

Unfortunately this fear of monsters has also made it hard to sleep at night. We now have "Monster Spray" that we use at night. We also pray before bed that we will not be scared. But scared we are.

Has anyone else had to deal with this? What did you do?

My good friend Laney did point out that he does watch some scary movies - Snow White, Pinocchio, and Monsters Inc. We are not going to watch them again for awhile.

The good old monster spray trick. That's always a favorite. I read the funniest thing ever the other night when I was goggle-ing ways to get a toddler to sleep in their "big bead". I laughed out loud actually. I came across this idea to do when your kids are afraid of monsters, and I could totally see Adrian doing this! It basically said that there was this one dad that would read their kids stories every night and afterward he would go in the closet (or wherever the monster was) and beat up all the monsters in the closet. He would make it a full on brawl and come out and say, "There wont be any monsters bothering you tonight!" I also read somewhere that a lot of the times when kids are afraid of monsters they might be having some anxieties. SO maybe it is the movies where he's getting the ideas from.

You should also go get him some books about monsters in your closets so he can see that the monster never really gets the kids. Or you could even make up a good monster to stay in his room that can fight off any bad ones that come in. Sorry so long. Good luck Tay!

so we totally went through this with crew and occasionally still do go through it. but i think it told you about the twilight turtle we got crew and it totally helped. (but i was never sure if crew was legitimately scared or if it was just one of his ploys to stay up longer).

another idea that my sis in law told me that i didn't try but my sister did and she said it totally worked for her little girl. she said to get a picture of Jesus to hang in your child's room and explain that Jesus will protect him and nothing bad can happen when Jesus is in his room. my sister said it was like magic.

GOOD LUCK!!
