A Birthday Surprise

In an attempt to outdo the birthday surprise Adrian received for his birthday (surprise cruise, remember?), he decided to take me on a surprise birthday trip too.

Somewhere warm (pack a swim suit). Somewhere with a free place to stay (what? you have friends in Florida?). Somewhere we can get away and just be together. I may have some work to do and some clients to meet with. It will be fun.

Where are we going?

Finally, in order to keep disappointment at bay, he let me know the night before "We are going to Arizona! Doesn't that sound fun?"

Fun? Sure. But Arizona, really? For a surprise trip? Really? And you are meeting with clients? Are you sure this is for my birthday and not for you to get some work done? Really?

Some of this was verbalized, some just in my head. By the time the LONG flight was over, I was annoyed. Arizona, really?

Until I stepped off the plane and saw these wonderful people:

A weekend with my sisters, mom, and dad (except Mackenzie)! What surprise could have been better than that? And to think I was doubting my sweet husband and his attempts to make me happy.

Shopping, movies, hiking, and eating. What a great trip! Let's go to Arizona again someday.

Fun! I think it's so funny that you were annoyed at first. And I love that Adrian egged that on. :)
