Adrian and I finally got our chimney swept and ready for the winter. Unfortunately we did not have any firewood to get the fire going the first day it was ready. But Adrian came up with another solution...books! He insisted that we at least burn something, so he found two books that he "hated" and we burned them in our fireplace. Everything works great! We can't wait until we have real logs to burn.
For those that don't know, Adrian and I bought a new house last May, and spent all summer and fall fixing it up. We completely ripped out the kitchen, knocked down a wall, and repainted everything. It has been a huge undertaking! We finally painted our kitchen - red - and we are just about done with everything else. We ordered tile for our backsplash. After that is installed our kitchen will be complete! We love our new house!
The picture of the watermelon represents a small part of our harvest this year. We have a small garden in our backyard. We got it planted a little late in the season, and this is as big as our watermelon got before it was too cold to keep growing. We still cut it open and it tasted delicious (I took a picture because it was so cute and small). Next year we will plant a little earlier.

I hope those books were the "His Dark Materials" series.
